What We Do

The Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (GSGI) build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Our programs are informed by our over 100 years of experience, in addition to current, one-of-a-kind research. The combination of these two resources allows Girl Scouts to adapt to today’s girls’ needs and serve as the preeminent organization for girl-led leadership experiences. Girl-led refers to the fact that in Girl Scouts, a girl makes decisions and choices for herself as to which activities, skill-building opportunities, and connections in which she wants to participate.

Through Girl Scout programs, girls in Pottawattamie County empower themselves to develop the five attitudes, behaviors, and skills essential to leadership that are the outcomes of Girl Scout programs:
1) Strong Sense of Self
2) Positive Values
3) Challenge Seeking
4) Healthy Relationships
5) Community Problem Solving.
